Jason’s Garden of Remembrance – Est. 2009
Jason’s Garden of Remembrance was established in loving memory of my eldest son, Jason, who was tragically taken from us at the age of 20 on 05 March 2009.
What began as a personal tribute has grown into a heartfelt mission: to keep Jason’s memory alive through the cultivation of clivias and to inspire the younger generation to reconnect with nature and find meaning in nurturing life.
The garden is home to a cherished collection of clivias—many from my personal collection and others generously donated by members of the clivia-growing community. It is a living, growing legacy—blossoming with love, remembrance, and hope.
A Global Initiative for Youth and Nature
Each year, seeds from Jason’s Memory Garden are shared free of charge with interested scholars and students around the world. Recipients to date include young people in South Africa, the United States, and Australia.
Seed Distribution:
📦 Seeds are sent out annually during August/September.
Growing clivias from seed is a rewarding journey. After four years of patience and care, these tiny seeds bloom into magnificent plants—a true symbol of growth and transformation. It is my hope that through this project, young people will discover the joy of gardening and the healing power of nature.
Our Goals:
To honour Jason’s memory through something beautiful and enduring
To engage young people in a meaningful, nature-based activity
To build a community of future clivia growers and enthusiasts around the world
To create a legacy that inspires learning, care, and global connection
