Breeding with Cameo
Cameo is an exceptional breeding plant and one that has firmly earned its place within our elite collection. Originally a carefully hand-selected seedling, it was perceptively named by Liz Boyd, whose keen eye recognised its potential at an early stage.
We have had the privilege of working extensively with Cameo over several years, and it has consistently delivered outstanding results. One of its most exciting attributes is that it is split for recurved yellow flowers—a rare and highly desirable trait that introduces both elegance and distinction into its offspring.
Breeding Value and Versatility
Cameo has proven to be remarkably versatile in breeding, performing equally well in:
Green-focused crosses
Pastel breeding programmes
Yellow line development
Across these combinations, it reliably contributes refined form, balance, and visual appeal. Its recurved influence adds a graceful dimension that sets its progeny apart from more conventional forms.
Looking Ahead
The influence of Cameo is already evident in several standout seedlings, and we are only beginning to uncover the full scope of its genetic potential. As these plants mature and flower, they continue to reinforce Cameo’s status as a cornerstone breeding plant within our programme.
