Utopia Clivias Dominates the 2025 GRCC Interspecific Clivia Show

The Garden Route Clivia Club (GRCC) successfully hosted its annual Interspecific Clivia Show on Saturday, 2 August 2025, at the Reebok Community Hall. The event was a celebration of Clivia diversity, drawing considerable public interest and giving enthusiasts a chance to admire exceptional interspecific Clivias.

This year, a total of 62 plants were entered across various categories by six dedicated growers. The show attracted 160 visitors, all eager to see the outstanding quality, colour, and form of the Clivias on display.

Carrie Kruger of Utopia Clivias had an extraordinary day, sweeping the awards:

  • First Runner-Up: Carrie Kruger

  • Second Runner-Up: Carrie Kruger

This remarkable achievement highlights the expertise, dedication, and passion that Utopia Clivias brings to Clivia breeding and cultivation. From vibrant colours to perfectly shaped umbels, Carrie’s entries stood out for their quality, vigour, and uniqueness.

The GRCC Interspecific Clivia Show remains one of the highlights of the Clivia calendar, providing a platform for growers to showcase rare and award-winning interspecific hybrids. For Carrie, this recognition is a testament to over 20 years of dedication to Clivia breeding, particularly in producing new and unusual colour combinations.

Visitors were not only treated to the beauty of the blooms but also had the opportunity to learn about the art and science of interspecific Clivia breeding, making the event both educational and inspiring.
